Many of you may know that I converted my Ender 3 3D printer into a second laser for engraving pet tags, ID tags, and slate coasters. Well while trying to create 2 Mayday ID tags for the sales event on Sunday, the laser kept shutting down. It would get half way through, and stop with the error “lost connection”. After half a dozen wasted ID tags, and about an hour of pure frustration, I returned the laser to amazon and got my $250 back.
I bought a Falcon PRO to replace my “big” laser, which is a CR-Falcon 10W. So, now, the CR-Falcon is my “engraving” laser, and the Falcon PRO is the wood cutting laser. This gives me a feature that I have been wanting since I start out cutting the divider panels for the Color Street stylists. That is Auto, Air Assist. This means I don’t have to watch the “engrave” process like a hawk, waiting for the engrave to finish and the cut to start, and turn on the air pump to help the laser make cleaner cuts. Now the software does it for me… Automagically!
So, now I can engrave more items at once, because the work area is twice as large. So I can do 8 coasters at a time, 24 ID tags, at a time. And yes, even tumblers now. Glass etching coming soon, as well as leatherette patches on hats, coats, etc.
So goodbye to the Ender 3 laser conversion, and hello bigger, faster, Falcon PRO!
